How our data is collected
Amathuba shows work and skills from across South Africa so people can see where the opportunities are. This page explains where the numbers come from.
Work that is advertised
We read job adverts that employers, government departments and youth portals have already published for the public. We keep the job title, employer, place, dates and a link back to the original. To apply, you go to the original advert. We do not copy full adverts and we do not collect anything about applicants.
People with skills
This combines the people registered on Amathuba with published statistics on graduates and unemployed people by field, from sources such as Stats SA and the Department of Higher Education and Training. Each figure keeps its source and year. These are counts, not names.
Potential income
This is what the jobs and needs that are open right now could pay each month if every one were filled. It is a guide to the size of the opportunity, not money that has been paid.
- Jobs advertised elsewhere are valued at one month on the national minimum wage (R30.23 an hour from 1 March 2026, 40 hours a week, about R5 240 a month). Many pay more, so this is a floor.
- Needs posted on Amathuba are valued at the average paid on Amathuba for that kind of work, or one day at minimum wage when nothing has been paid yet.
- The figure updates as jobs open and close.
How we behave
- We only read public pages and feeds, and we respect each site's robots.txt rules.
- We identify ourselves as AmathubaBot and read slowly so we do not load anyone's website.
- We store no personal information from these sources. Amathuba's own users are covered by our POPIA practices and are never mixed with this data.
- Adverts that close or disappear from the source are removed from the page.
- The sector comparison is a guide built from titles and counts. It is not a forecast.
Employers and website owners
If you would rather your adverts were not read automatically, message us on WhatsApp and we will stop. Better still, post your jobs on Amathuba directly.
